A decade in business
In 2002 I turned my hobby - building websites - into a business when I incorporated my little operation into a company called Web Logic Now. For a decade I gained experience dealing with teams, clients, sales, and business.

Boulder, Colorado
In 2011 I moved to Boulder to seek new adventures and a cofounder for my startup - a site where friends can share and talk about memories. That project didn't take off, but creating the alpha version gave me a perfect opportunity to learn the basics of Ruby on Rails.

No turning back
After getting a taste of Rails I was hooked. My focus turned from my business to more serious programming. This time, I started at the basics: Ruby. I dove into the fundamental concepts and took my time learning the importance of testing. To me, programming is the capacity to create.

Now: Joining a team
Now after a decade at the helm of a small business, I intend to join a team where I can take on a developer role. I’ve learned more in the past four months than I had in the entire year prior, and I intend to do nothing but accelerate – both in my learning and in the value I contribute to the team I join.

About Me

Design
My recent design projects include AgriInstitute.org, WebLogicNow.com, IndianaLeadership.org, and TrafficEngineering.com.

Development
CodeMap — A personal doc archive and programming learning tool (Rails 3, Cucumber, Rspec).
PutPhoto — A command line utility I hacked together in Ruby. It organizes my photos by putting them in the correct directory structure within my Dropbox folder (Ruby).

Reading
In the past 60 days I have worked through the following:
Programming Ruby 1.9, Rails 3 in Action, Eloquent JavaScript, and Head First HTML5 Programing: Building Web Apps with JavaScript.

Recent Work

Values
I have three values: purpose, reason, and self-esteem. My value of purpose is achieved through productive work.

This was not always something I had clarity about, but since I came to this understanding in mid-2012 my approach to work has completely changed.

Happiness through work
From my experience, happiness is the automatic result of one's achievement and maintenance of one's values. For this reason, seeking productive work and therefor purpose is how I achieve happiness.
